Passport Check & ID Scan with OCR tech

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology is the electronic conversion of images of typed, handwritten or printed text into machine-encoded and editable text. It is widely used as a form of information entry from printed paper data records, whether passport documents, invoices, bank statements, computerized receipts, business cards or books. Our OCR software has being developing by Tsinghua University since 1985, it focuses on the recognition of Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and Arabic characters.

Based on this OCR tech, Passport Reader is specially invented to extract identity data from ICAO 9303 & non-ICAO compliant travel documents, such as Passport, E-Passport, Visa, ID card, Driving License and other travel documents around the world. We have two solutions for passport check and ID scan:

Desktop Solution: it consists of hardware (scanner) and software (OCR SDK), the scanner is responsible for capture high-resolution document images; OCR SDK will process these images and automatically provide digitalized ID info. After integration, passengers just need to place their ID or passport face-down on the scanner, all ID information can automatically fill into customs system within 2 seconds.

Mobile Solution: the work flow of Mobile ID Scanner is as following: First, image capturing: using the front camera of a smart phone or ipad to capture high-resolution document images, in this step, Passport Reader applies Video Streaming Capture Mode to improve customer experience; second, image pre-processing: this step includes image de-skews, image denoising, image binarization, layout analysis, character segmentation; third, OCR recognition.
