ICAO 9303 Standard Passport Reader

In order to facilitate international communication, many countries started to issue machine readable travel documents in the 1980s. This kind of document is encoded in optical character recognition format, and is standardized by ICAO 9303 Standard. Passport is one of the ICAO 9303 standard travel documents. It has a machine readable zone at the bottom of passport identity page.

With OCR (optical character recognition) technology, machine readable travel documents can be read within seconds. Wintone Passport Reader is based on own-patented OCR algorithm, it can read passports, visa, MRZ. For Non-MRZ documents, passport reader can also be trained to read VIZ (visual inspection zone). Up till now, Wintone has developed their passport reader to read ID cards from Thailand, China, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan; and some country use their driver license as identity card, Wintone passport reader is also able to read driver license. And, It can reader barode and QR code.

How does passport reader works? Wintone passport reader consists of hardware (scanner) and software (OCR SDK). The scanner can capture high resolution document images, and transfer it to the OCR software; OCR software will process this image, extract necessary data and upload these data to your application. Wintone passport reader is a full-page reader; this means it can also provide full image copy of the documents and avatar of the document holder. In spite of above mentioned functions, Wintone passport reader is also equipped with RFID reader, it enables you to access the chip of some documents, and double ensured the accuracy of recognition results.
