Mykad is a multi-purpose smart identity card for Malaysian citizens; it was regard as the first ID card which incorporated both photo identification and fingerprint biometric data on an in-built chip. Mykad serves as the proof of citizenship, valid driver license, ATM card and a public key.

Traditionally, it’s an identity card of Malaysian Citizens; it can be used as a driver license; however, it can also be used as an electronic wallet for low-value, high-volume transactions; it can be used to pay for public transport fees; it contains holder’s basic health data and information of holder’s Malaysia passport.
